In 1949 , Tunku
Abdul Rahman Putra Al -Haj, is hold a position the chairman of the Kedah
Umno . After that ,when Dato ' Onn bin Jaafar resigned as Umno President ,
Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al -Haj, has been selected to fill the vacancy on
August 26, 1951 . Since , taking over the leadership of UMNO , Dato ' Onn , Tunku Abdul
Rahman Putra Al -Haj has established cooperation with the Alliance party in
1952 . Since the Alliance became the dominant body that fight until the
Malaysian gained freedom. After that , when Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al
-Haj, read the declaration of Independence on the morning of August 31, 1957
which is now celebrated annually as National Day - Day celebrating independence
.
Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al -Haj prove his statesmanship when
the Alliance produced along with MCA and later joined by the MIC. Tunku Abdul
Rahman Putra Al -Haj asserts independence will only be achieved through the
unity and cooperation between the Malays, Chinese and Indians . Tunku Abdul
Rahman Putra Al -Haj integrity, can be perceive through the result
of the negotiations that highlighted when Tunku Abdul

1955 and the Alliance Party won 51 of the 52 seats contested. From that
